Linda Osifo, a Nollywood actress, has disclosed that she thought about whitening her skin while in Canada due to racist epithets.
The ebony actress, who was raised in Canada after leaving Benin City, Nigeria, at the age of 16, stated that the prejudice she experienced traumatized her since it came from “within.”
In a recent interview with media figure Chude Jideonwo, she revealed this.
The host, Chude, questioned: “You mentioned wanted to bleach your skin because you were worried that people might mistake you for a monkey when you grew older. Did this actually occur?
“Yeah,” Osifo retorted. There is no doubt about that. You know, it also occurs from your shade. That being the case, it is much stranger.
“I’ve always believed that bullies don’t typically target people they don’t know. It originates inside. Because even though you might not care if someone else says it, it hurts more when it comes from someone close to you who you kind of see every other day.
